5 Big World Phone Manufacturers
Position 5 Big World's Largest Mobile Phone Vendor third quarter last year:
A. Nokia - 106.6 million units - 27.3%
2. Samsung - 88 million units - 22.6%
3. LG - 21.1 million units - 5.4%
4. ZTE - 18.5 million units - 4.7%
5. Apple - 17.1 million units - 4.4%
Research by Strategy Analytics, global handset shipments grew 14% from the previous period by the number of 390 million units. Nokia is still the winner with 27.3% market share. The number has fallen quite a large of percentage of 32.3% in the same period in 2010.
Competition hotting up the phone vendor. Third quarter 2011 data shows Nokia is still a king, but with thinner margins. On the other hand, Samsung and ZTE score increase market share.
"Sales of Nokia's powerful dual sim models offset by weak demand for Symbian smartphones," said Neil Mawston from Strategy Analytics. The advent of Windows Phone Nokia recently is expected to restore the position of Nokia.
Nokia's position dipepet Samsung to gain market share 22.6% from the previous 20.9%. In total, Samsung shipped 88 million phones, a combination of a smartphone with a feature phone.
