Charged fear, Microsoft Eliminate the 'Metro' in Windows 8

Berlin - Microsoft decided to remove the frills 'Metro' in the latest software, Windows 8. This step to avoid the demands of the German-based company that claims to 'Metro' is their trademark.

Excerpted from Tech Radar, Friday (08/03/2012), the name change was done because the German retail giant Metro AG reportedly preparing to file complaints about the naming.

Though originally, the name 'Metro' is used to name the Microsoft user interface (UI) Windows 8. Starting this week, Microsoft said Windows 8 UI design is only as 'Windows 8 UI-style' course or 'New User Interface', no longer called 'Metro'.

Microsoft itself says, 'Metro style' is the name of the code before it launched its latest operating system. The software giant chose to 'play safe' to avoid unwanted disputes.

Now, Microsoft is asking developers to stop using the word 'Metro' but was replaced by the name of a predefined Microsoft as mentioned above.

"We use 'Metro style' as a code name for the product development cycle. As we are getting close to launch time, we will use our commercial name," said Microsoft.
