In 2001, Halbherr became CEO of gate5 AG, a provider of software and mapping services, and global navigation route. In 2006, gate5 acquired by Nokia. Halbherr has a PhD in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich, and worked for four years at the MIT Laboratory for Computer Science.
Halbherr has worked at Nokia since 2006, with his last position as a leader product unit in Nokia Services. Prior to joining Nokia, Halbherr worked for the Boston Consulting Group and europatweb, Internet investment organization of Group Arnault, overseeing all technology investments.
