Nokia Store Translucent 5 Million Downloads Daily

Nokia app store, Nokia Store recorded a significant growth. The number of downloads in Nokia Store now reaches 5 million times a day and the number of applications has exceeded 40 thousand units.

"With over 5 million downloads per day, Nokia Store is very important for Nokia and its Symbian customers, and Nokia will continue to support them to provide the best experience for consumers," said Nokia spokesman.

Reported by Computerworld and quoted us, the number of apps in the Nokia Store increased 8-fold from a year ago. It is far enough when compared to the Apple App Store which has about 350 thousand applications. However, Nokia still consider this a successful application store.

As is known, Microsoft also has its own app store, the Windows Marketplace. The analysts said Nokia Store and Windows Marketplace will not stand on their own, but may be incorporated when Nokia started to sell WP 7 handsets next year.

But in the future, there are questions about the viability of the Nokia Store that caters Symbian based phones. This is related to the Nokia partnership with Microsoft to use Windows Phone 7 OS on the smartphone.

Nokia itself has pledged to continue to support Symbian while WP 7 being their primary OS. Finnish vendor has just released two Symbian-based smartphones, the E6 and X7.
